A ChatGPT subscription sells through Codex. It is the provider with the most surprises, all of them upstream.

Models it serves
Not gpt-5-codex. The ChatGPT backend that serves a Codex subscription refuses that slug outright, even though the catalog lists it.
What it does serve: gpt-5.6-sol, gpt-5.6-terra, gpt-5.6-luna, gpt-5.5, gpt-5.4, gpt-5.4-mini.
Those are the fallbacks the client advertises before it knows better. As soon as the account answers an entitlement query, the list is cut down to what your seat is actually granted — so a Plus account stops advertising models only Pro can serve.
Things to watch
- A Codex subscription and the Codex platform API are different things. This page is the subscription. A pasted OpenAI API key is not connectable here.
- If a model your account is not entitled to gets matched to you, the request fails upstream and costs you reputation. Letting entitlement discovery finish before you turn the switch on avoids it.
- Buying with Codex on this machine takes its imported account off the sale list.
